In a major step toward promoting sustainable transportation, the city government today launched a fleet of 50 electric buses to reduce traffic pollution and improve public commuting.
The initiative, inaugurated by the Mayor at Central Bus Depot, aims to cut carbon emissions by nearly 30% over the next year. Each electric bus is equipped with modern features like GPS tracking, free Wi-Fi, and air conditioning, offering passengers a comfortable and eco-friendly ride.
Speaking at the event, the Mayor said, “This is a milestone in our journey to create a cleaner, greener city. Public transport users will now have a faster, safer, and more sustainable option.”
The electric buses will initially run across five major routes, with plans to expand the service citywide by early next year. Authorities are also setting up charging stations at key bus terminals to ensure uninterrupted service.
Residents have welcomed the move, praising the city’s efforts to tackle rising pollution levels. Officials encourage citizens to choose public transport over private vehicles to further reduce environmental impact.
With this launch, the city joins a growing list of urban areas adopting electric mobility solutions for a healthier future.
